Sunridge Karate began as a ministry at Sunridge Church in June 2001. Mr. Rob Hager, a member of Sunridge Church, realized the need to provide a practical way for young people to apply Christian morals and values to their lives. He felt that a well rounded martial arts program would be the perfect training ground to accomplish this task. The program started out with 16 students, ages 5 - 14, and steadily grew to over 100 students in just 2 years.
In late 2003, Mr. Gary Kruger came along side Mr. Hager and began assisting with the teaching. The two quickly realized that the program was growing larger than their current facility could hold. After praying about what to do, a partnership between Mr. Hager and Mr. Kruger was formed and plans were made to move Sunridge Karate into a bigger facility.
Sunridge Karate is now located at 27496 Commerce Drive Suite A in Temecula and offers classes for the entire family. The program continues to teach the same values and beliefs that originally inspired Mr. Hager to begin this ministry.
The style of martial arts taught at Sunridge Karate is a blend of Kenpo and Taekwondo along with techniques from various other styles. The blending of styles, along with the desire of Mr. Hager and Mr. Kruger to teach God's word, is what makes this program one of the most well rounded self defense programs available.
While the teaching of self defense skills takes place in every class, we believe that students will be able to avoid most situations that result in physical confrontation if they live out the values that are taught in the Bible.
Our Vision
It is our goal to become a place where the Holy Spirit is constantly present, and where hearts and lives are changed. Our desire is that students will obtain confidence in defending themselves against both physical and spiritual threats by relying on the Lord Jesus Christ.
It is also our goal to look for students who are willing to be used by God, and to be developed and mentored into reaching out to their peers. It is our hope that these individuals will help carry the message and set the examples for others to follow. In turn the individuals they reach continue the process.
